Our Approach

“Alma” means soul in Spanish — a name rooted in Sofía’s Chilean heritage and a reflection of what draws us to wedding films in the first place: the part you can't stage, but you feel.
We believe the best films come from paying attention to what's actually happening. The people, the place, the energy of the room, and all the moments in between. Our approach is thoughtful and unobtrusive, allowing the day to unfold naturally while capturing the details and emotions that make it uniquely yours.
The result is a film that feels as real as it is beautiful.

Sofía + Josh
Founded in 2013, Alma Films is a Minneapolis-based wedding film studio led by Sofía and Josh. Together, we've built a studio around a shared appreciation for beautiful imagery, meaningful stories, and the people at the center of them.
We've had the privilege of documenting nearly 400 celebrations across the Midwest and around the world. As owners and creative leads, we shape the vision behind every film, from the way we approach a wedding day to the way each story comes together in post-production.
Outside of Alma, we're raising three little ones, finding excuses to travel, spending time at the lake, and making the most of the everyday moments that seem to pass the quickest. It's a perspective that finds its way into our work and reminds us why these stories matter.
