Danielle and Charlie Coyle at The Whim

The Whim · Minneapolis, MN

This is Danielle and Charlie Coyle’s wedding highlight film from their Minneapolis celebration at The Whim. We loved being part of their wedding day — a timeless, effortlessly beautiful gathering surrounded by the people who know them best.

From a welcome party on the Four Seasons rooftop to a custom wedding-day speakeasy, every detail felt like them: fun, kind, intentional, and elegant without trying too hard. Congrats, Danielle and Charlie Coyle.

The Whim in Minneapolis

The Whim sits in Northeast Minneapolis — an industrial event space with airy light, timber ceilings, and room for a celebration that can feel romantic and modern at once. For couples searching for a Minneapolis wedding videographer, it asks for a filmmaker who treats atmosphere as part of the story — then keeps the camera on the people filling the room.

Danielle and Charlie Coyle planned much of the day from Boston; Danielle is from Minnesota, and the wedding was a destination celebration for the couple and for most of their guests. Full-service design and planning came from Style-Architects Weddings & Events, who helped shape a vision that was romantic and fresh without overthinking every decision — guest experience first.

Alma Films, on Danielle and Charlie Coyle’s celebration

Welcome, getting ready, and the day itself

The weekend opened with a welcome party on the Four Seasons Minneapolis rooftop — rehearsal hospitality before the wedding day unfolded. Getting ready took place at LAB Minneapolis, with hair by Jessica Daley and makeup by The Perfect Face, before the celebration gathered at The Whim.

Photography was by Russell Heeter. Florals by Lilia Flower Boutique, paper by Jill Elaine, linens by Après, lounge and tables by Collected & Co., lighting by Phos Events, and catering by D’Amico framed a reception that stayed personal: string music from the Lake Minnetonka String Quartet, DJ Dudley D on the floor, Glam Doll Donuts for dessert, a photo booth, and the couple’s dogs cared for with Doggy Social as part of the day.

Voices, a speakeasy, and what carried the film

In the highlight, the voices of people who love them matter as much as how the room looked. Charlie Coyle’s sister’s toast — speaking about Danielle and Charlie Coyle as a pair — is one of the moments that carries the story on film, the kind of speech that sits naturally under footage of them together.

Later, a custom speakeasy with espresso martinis kept the night feeling like them, alongside arcade games, donuts, and the kind of late-night fun their guests would remember. The film is not a brochure for a beautiful venue. It is a record of how the celebration sounded and felt when the people closest to them showed up.

Why this film matters

A wedding film at The Whim is not only architecture and florals. Years from now, Danielle and Charlie Coyle will not only see where they stood — they will feel who was in the room, hear the voices that carried the night, and remember a celebration that felt entirely their own.
