Lily & Danya on the Duluth Waterfront

Pier B Resort · Duluth, MN

On the first day of August, Lily and Danya married on the upper deck of Pier B Resort, with Duluth's harbor behind them. Jonathan Rova officiated. Family and friends gathered close, and the day held all of it — the lake light, the vows, and a toast that kept returning to the idea of home.

True North Weddings planned and designed the celebration, Marit Williams photographed it, and this next-day teaser went out while the weekend was still warm.

Morning on the waterfront

Lily and Danya shared their first look under the ceremony arch, where they would soon be married. Danya couldn’t believe Lily was real - he asked her if he was dreaming. The view of Lake Superior behind them was the perfect backdrop. Following the ceremony they enjoyed cocktail hour with their guests. It was a perfect summer day.

“Home is the person beside you.”

From a toast to Lily and Danya

What home means

The evening's toasts came in order from Lily's father, then Danya's younger brother and best man, followed by the bride’s maid of honor. The groom’s younger brother shared how he and his brother endured difficult times when first moving to the United States. He said, "Home is not only a country, a city or a house. Home is the person beside you who makes you believe that whatever happens next you will face it together." The wish that followed was simple: keep celebrating one another, and keep laughing through the ordinary days.

Golden hour at Leif Erikson Park

In the evening, Marit Williams, the Alma Films team and the bride and groom headed to a lovely rocky beach right next to the water for golden hour. Back at Pier B, the dance floor opened and the night stretched on. The white florals, candlelight, live band and a room full of people who had traveled to be there kept the party going.

The people behind the day

True North Weddings planned the day, Superior Blooms did the florals, The Vault Duluth and Encore handled rentals, Rock With U brought the party, and Drizzled Cupcakery made the cake. Lily wore a gorgeous gown from Annika Bridal, and Marit Williams photographed the day.
