After 15 Years, I Still Choose You: Heather & Brian at The Minikahda Club
The Minikahda Club · Minneapolis, MN
Fifteen years ago, a friend named Mary told Brian she had "this great girl" for him. The blind date worked. By the time Heather and Brian stood on the croquet lawn at The Minikahda Club on August 15, they'd already built a life together. Brian's sons, twin granddaughters Hallie and Harper, their dogs Harry and Franny, and countless friends witnessed them tie the knot.
Their wedding wasn't about starting something new. As Heather's sister Sarah put it, it was "a celebration of everything you've already built together." The morning was grey and a little rainy, and by the ceremony it had cleared into the most beautiful summer day.

A blind date, fifteen years later
Heather's vows started where it all began: "If someone had told me 15 years ago a blind date would lead me here, to a life this full and this meaningful, I'm not sure I would have believed them." Brian answered with his own: "15 years ago I said yes to a blind date. Today I say yes to every tomorrow we'll have together." In between, they promised patience about door locks and airport timing - the kind of vows only fifteen years can write.

“And still, very much still, I choose you.”
A ceremony on the croquet lawn
Jesse Mowin, Brian's brother-in-law, officiated with stories only family could tell, including the gratitude tree at their first Thanksgiving together, where Heather wrote one word on her tag: Brian. Heather's cousin Katie read Beethoven's letter to his Immortal Beloved, and the lawn went quiet for "What a Wonderful World" - a song that has carried through generations of Heather's family.
A family that grew
The toasts told the rest. Brian's sons, Ben and Jake, remembered Christmas cards where they first called Heather their second mom. Sarah spoke about the "Uncle Brian" her boys grew up with. Heather's father offered a toast of his own. Then dinner gave way to the dance floor, with The Silver Alchemist keeping the party going strong!
The Minikahda Club
There were cocktails on the roof deck, dinner in the ballroom, and the cake cut in the club's living room. Nicolle Sellers of Mother of the Bride Weddings planned the day, Apricot Floral designed the beautiful ceremony florals and the centerpieces, Amanda Nippoldt photographed it, and Heather wore a gown by the talented designer, Mira Zwillinger.
