This is one of the biggest regrets couples have after their wedding — “We wish we would have hired a videographer!” We have heard it countless times! In this blog post we’ll tell you why you need a videographer on your wedding day! (and it’s not just because we want you to hire us!)
When it comes down to budget, we understand why couples aren’t booking a videographer. We get it. We got married too and were flabbergasted watching quotes come back, wondering if we should just elope or do a simple backyard wedding.
Wedding videography is expensive.
Weddings are expensive, period. We’ve talked to couples who’ve said “I wish I would have hired a videographer…” These same couples said it was always the bottom of their list. The bar, the flowers, the planner, the catering, the entertainment — all of that came before videography. All of those things are important, but video - in our opinion - is one of the most important elements you need on your wedding day. Why?
Moments of utmost importance will happen on your wedding day and then be over in seconds. Photos are wonderful, but they lack movement and sound. Video captures the sound of your loved ones voices, the unposed, unprompted moments, and the movement of those beautiful photos your photographer will inevitably take. Video brings photos to life!
A month after a wedding last year we received an email from a bride who had lost both of her grandpas. Both were at her wedding and all she wanted was to see more footage of them if possible. She wanted to honor the memory of these men, and have something she could hold onto forever. Thankfully, since she hired a videographer (yours truly!) she was able to see and hear them again! We sent her multiple videos of her grandpas at her wedding, smiling, laughing and dancing! Videography is priceless.
A lot of couples say, “My fiancé doesn’t want cameras in our face all day.” We totally get that! You want to experience your wedding day in a way that doesn’t focus so much on the posed moments and feeling like a cloud of paparazzi are following you around all day. We’re here to tell you that you can have a videographer and not feel like a camera is in your face all day. If you hire the right videographer and let them know you are camera shy, they’ll respect your wishes and let you be you.
Sometimes our couples will do a first look together and turn to us and ask if they can share the next few moments privately — that is 100% okay! It’s YOUR wedding day, and we will always respect your wishes. We have had multiple couples after their wedding day tell us they hardly noticed us. They watch their wedding video and then tell us how thankful they are that they hired us, and that there were so many moments they didn’t see or experience, but WE captured them! That is the most wonderful feeling of all — being able to capture it all and give it to our couples as a memory they can relive forever!
